Comparison of NI Statistical Population Dataset with Census 2021

At 09:30 on 19 December 2024 we will publish a statistical research paper titled "Comparison of NI Statistical Population Dataset with Census 2021".

NISRA has used a range of administrative data sources to develop the Statistical Population Dataset (SPD). The aim of the SPD is to approximate the usually resident population by age and sex at the NI and sub-NI geographic levels.

This report will provide a description of how the SPD estimates were created, what they tell us about NI's population in April 2021, and how they compare to the published Census 2021 population statistics (as at census day, 21 March 2021) at both the national level and for local geographies.
