The tables containing data on deaths registered for the weeks up to week ending 14 February 2025 were released at 9.30am today.

Date of registration
- The provisional number of total deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the week ending 14 February (week 7) was 360, 33 less than the previous week (393).
- The number of expected deaths for week 7 was estimated at 365, using the methodology based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for week 7 was estimated at -105.
- For the week ending 14 February 2025, the number of expected deaths was estimated at 183 for males and 182 for females, using the current methodology, based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for the same week, was estimated at 0 for males and -5 for females, using the current method.
- For 2025, by 14 February, 49.9% of deaths were males and 50.1% were females. Over two-thirds (68.0%) of deaths were in the 75 years and over age group.
- In 2025, by 14 February, there have been 2,862 deaths registered. 1,336 (46.7%) of these took place in hospital, 521 (18.2%) in care homes and 1,005 (35.1%) at residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.
- The number of deaths mentioning flu and/or pneumonia on the death certificate registered in week 7 2025 totalled 69, bringing the total for 2025 so far to 646.

- The provisional number of deaths occurring in the week ending 14 February (including those registered up to and including 19 February 2025) was 270.
