NISRA's first report on Loneliness, 'Loneliness in Northern Ireland: 2018/19' was published today.

The first Loneliness Report, based on the direct Measure of Loneliness included in the Continuous Household Survey, ‘Loneliness in Northern Ireland: 2018/19’ is available here.

Key findings:

  • 35% of respondents reported feeling "more often lonely"
  • Female respondents were more likely to feel "more often lonely" (39%) than males (31%)
  • Almost two-thirds of respondents who described their general health as "bad" or "very bad" felt "more often lonely" (66%)
  • One in every two people without access to a car reported being "more often lonely" (55%)
