This publication is the sixth report from the 2001 Census of Population for Northern Ireland.  It provides a statistical profile of each settlement with a population of 1000 or more usually residents, covering topics such as age, educational qualifications, labour market status, provision of care, ethnic group and religion.

The settlements have been grouped in accordance with the eight-way classification outlined in the Report of the Inter-Departmental Urban-Rural Definition Group - Statistical Classification and Delineation of Settlements published in February 2005.

On 23 May 2005, NISRA published Key Statistics Data for settlements with a usually resident population of between 500 and 999 persons. This data has been incorporated into the Key Statistics tables available to download.

On the same day, information for smaller settlements, specifically those with fewer than 500 usual residents was released. The data file can be downloaded from this page.
