The tables containing data on deaths registered for the week ending 8 November 2024 were released at 9.30am today.

Date of registration
- The provisional number of total deaths registered in Northern Ireland in the week ending 8 November 2024 (week 45) was 350, 14 more than the previous week.
- The number of expected deaths for week 45 was estimated at 395 using the methodology based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for week 45 was estimated at -45.
- For the week ending 8 November 2024, the number of expected deaths was estimated at 200 for males and 195 for females, using the current methodology, based on mortality rates and trends. The relative number of excess deaths based on the expected deaths for the same week, was estimated at -20 for males and -25 for females, using the current method.
- For 2024, by 8 November, 51.1 % of deaths were males and 48.9 % were females. Almost two-thirds (64.7 %) of deaths were in the 75 years and over age group.
- From week 1 of 2024, to the week ending 8 November, there have been 15,434 deaths registered. 7,108 (46.1 %) of these took place in hospital, 2,530 (16.4 %) in care homes and 5,796 (37.6 %) at residential addresses, hospices, or other locations.

- The provisional number of deaths occurring in the week ending 8 November (including those registered up to and including 13 November 2024) was 250.
